Local SEO for restaurants: be the place people pick tonight.

"Dinner near me" gets decided in seconds, from the map, the photos and the reviews. SOSSRANK shows you where you appear for the searches that fill tables, around the block and across town, and what to fix first. Software from $39 a month, or we do the work. Anywhere in the US.

A neighborhood restaurant with warm light and a sidewalk table at dusk

A few blocks decide who gets the table.

Google weighs how close a restaurant is to the person searching. You can be the obvious choice on your street and missing two neighborhoods over. SOSSRANK checks your rank from a grid of points around you.

Why restaurants get skipped on the map

Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. For restaurants, freshness matters as much as anything: menus, photos, hours and replies.

What we find most often

  • An old menu, or no menu, on your Google profile
  • Few recent photos of the food and the room
  • Holiday and special hours that weren't updated
  • Reviews without replies
  • Your cuisine and signature dishes missing from your site and profile, even though that's what people search

Your profile is your front window

For most restaurants, the Google profile does more selling than the website. People decide from the photos, the menu, the hours and the latest reviews, often in a few seconds. Choose the most specific primary category for your cuisine, like Thai restaurant or Pizza restaurant rather than just Restaurant, and add only secondary categories that are true.

Food and drink businesses can use Google's menu editor to put the menu straight on the profile. Keep it current, with prices, and update it when it changes. Google says changes can take a day or two to appear.

Fill in the attributes people filter by: dine-in, takeout, delivery, outdoor seating, reservations, vegetarian options, accessibility. Each one is a reason to show up, or to be skipped.

Photos and hours keep you in the running

Add new photos often: dishes, the room, the outside so people recognize it, and the team. Recent, real photos tell searchers you're open and active, and they're what people swipe through before deciding.

Hours are where restaurants lose the most easy business. Set special hours for every holiday and closure, and update them before the day, not after. A diner who drives over and finds you closed when Google said open rarely tries again.

Your website should match: same hours, same menu, same phone, with your address and a map on every page footer.

Reviews and replies

Reviews decide a lot of dinner plans. Ask for them on the receipt, a table card or a follow-up message for online orders, always in the same way for every guest.

Google doesn't allow discounts, gifts or payment in exchange for reviews, and it doesn't allow asking only your happy customers. The review policy is clear on both. The safe, effective habit is to ask every customer, every time, in the same way.

Reply to every review. Thank people for specific things they mention, and answer complaints calmly with an offer to make it right offline. Future guests read the replies as closely as the reviews.

Be found for what you're known for

People search by dish and occasion as often as by cuisine: "best tacos", "brunch near me", "gluten-free pizza", "private dining". Make sure your signature dishes and services appear in your menu, your site and your profile description, in the words guests use.

Delivery apps show you inside their apps. People who search Google, Apple Maps or ask an AI assistant see your own profile and website first, so keep those complete and identical. Claim Apple Business Connect and Bing Places with the same details.

Measure it like for like

Rankings on the map aren't one number. They change with the searcher's location, so a single check from your office tells you almost nothing about the rest of your area.

SOSSRANK checks your position from a grid of points across your service area, for the searches you care about, and saves each scan. When you change something, the next scan uses the same points, so you can see what moved and where. That's how you tell a real gain from noise, and how you decide what to fix next.

How it works

  1. 1Scan

We map your rank across your service area for the searches that matter in your trade, audit your website and Google profile, and check what AI assistants say about you.

  2. 2Plan

You get one list of fixes, ranked by impact, in plain English.

  3. 3Fix

Work through the list yourself in the app, or we update your profile, pages, listings and review process for you.

  4. 4Re-measure

We check the same map points again, so every change is compared like for like.

How fast things move depends on your market and your competitors. What doesn't change: every fix shows up on your map, measured from the same points each time, so you see what moved and when.

Do it yourself, or hand it to us.

Questions we hear

Do you manage our reviews?

The app drafts replies for you to approve, and done-for-you plans include review monitoring. We never write or buy fake reviews.

We're already on delivery apps. Does this still matter?

Yes. Delivery apps show you inside their app. People who search Google or ask an AI assistant see your Google profile and website first, and that's where you control the details.

Do you work with businesses outside Maryland?

Yes. The app works for businesses anywhere in the US, and done-for-you work is done remotely, with everything visible in your dashboard. We're based in Germantown, Maryland.

How fast will I see more calls?

It depends on your market and your competitors, and Google says no one can pay for a better ranking. What you get is proof: you see the change on your map, measured from the same points every time.
