Electrician SEO: be the electrician nearby homeowners call first.
When the power goes out or a panel needs upgrading, people search "electrician near me" and call one of the first names on the map. SOSSRANK shows you where you're one of those names across your service area, and what to fix where you're not. Software from $39 a month, or we do the work. Anywhere in the US.
Your rank changes every few blocks.
Google weighs how close an electrician is to the person searching. You can be first near your shop and invisible in the towns you drive to every day. SOSSRANK checks your rank from a grid of points across your service area.

Why electricians lose calls on the map
Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. Distance you can't change. Relevance and prominence you can, and for electricians the gaps are usually the same few things.

What we find most often
- Panel upgrades, EV chargers and generators missing from your Google profile services
- One services page trying to rank for every job in every town
- A Google service area that doesn't match the towns you actually serve
- License and insurance details hard to find on your site
- Few recent reviews that mention the jobs you want more of
Set up your Google profile for the work you want
Your Google Business Profile is the listing that shows in the map. Electrician is the usual primary category. Add secondary categories only for work you really do, such as Lighting contractor or Electric vehicle charging station contractor if you install chargers.
Then fill in the services list with the jobs people search for: panel upgrades, EV charger installation, generator installation, wiring and rewiring, outlet and switch repair, lighting, inspections and emergency repairs. Each service you list is another way Google can match you to a search.
If customers don't come to you, Google asks you to hide your address and list the areas you serve instead. You can add up to 20 service areas, and Google recommends keeping the whole area within about two hours' drive of where you're based. Google's service-area rules are short and worth reading once.
Keep your business name exactly as it appears on your van, your invoices and your sign. Google's guidelines don't allow extra keywords or town names in the name, and profiles that add them can be suspended. Put services in the services list and towns in the service area, where they belong.
A page for each job, and for each town
Homeowners searching for a panel upgrade want to know what it involves, roughly how long it takes and whether a permit is needed. A page that answers those questions for one job does much better than one services page listing everything.
Town pages help when they say something true about the town: the neighborhoods you cover, the age of the homes and the kind of work that comes with them, and jobs you've done nearby. Link each service page to the towns where you do that work.
Licenses and trust signals belong on the page
People hiring an electrician want to know you're licensed and insured. Put your license details where your state allows and customers expect, on your site and in your profile description, in plain words. It helps people choose you, and it gives AI assistants a clear fact to repeat.
Photos of real work, like a clean panel install or a finished EV charger, do more than stock images. Add a few to your Google profile every month.
Reviews that mention the job
A review that says "installed our EV charger and pulled the permit" tells the next customer, and Google, exactly what you do. Ask every customer, with a direct link, right after the job.
Google doesn't allow discounts, gifts or payment in exchange for reviews, and it doesn't allow asking only your happy customers. The review policy is clear on both. The safe, effective habit is to ask every customer, every time, in the same way.
Measure it like for like
Rankings on the map aren't one number. They change with the searcher's location, so a single check from your office tells you almost nothing about the rest of your area.
SOSSRANK checks your position from a grid of points across your service area, for the searches you care about, and saves each scan. When you change something, the next scan uses the same points, so you can see what moved and where. That's how you tell a real gain from noise, and how you decide what to fix next.

Questions we hear
What is electrician SEO?
It's the work of getting your electrical business to show up when nearby customers search on Google and Google Maps, and when they ask AI assistants for a recommendation. Most of it happens on your Google Business Profile, your website and your reviews.
Can you help with emergency and after-hours searches?
Yes. We track searches like "emergency electrician" separately, because they behave differently, and make sure your hours and profile say you take those calls if you do.
Do you work with businesses outside Maryland?
Yes. The app works for businesses anywhere in the US, and done-for-you work is done remotely, with everything visible in your dashboard. We're based in Germantown, Maryland.
How fast will I see more calls?
It depends on your market and your competitors, and Google says no one can pay for a better ranking. What you get is proof: you see the change on your map, measured from the same points every time.
