Local SEO for dentists: be the practice nearby patients choose.
Most people pick a dentist close to home, and they often pick from the map. SOSSRANK shows you where your practice appears for "dentist near me" and the treatments you want more of, block by block, and what to fix first. Software from $39 a month, or we do the work. Anywhere in the US.

Patients a mile away may never see you.
Google weighs how close a practice is to the person searching. You can rank well for families on your street and not at all in the neighborhood next door. SOSSRANK checks your rank from a grid of points around your office.

Why dental practices get passed over on the map
Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. For practices, relevance is where most of the easy wins are: telling Google, clearly, what you do and for whom.

What we find most often
- A general main category on Google when patients search for a specific treatment
- No pages for the treatments you want more of, like implants, clear aligners or emergency visits
- Insurance, parking and new-patient questions answered nowhere on your site
- Office hours that differ between Google and your website
- Reviews that never get a reply
Tell Google exactly what kind of practice you are
Most practices list themselves as Dentist and stop there. That's a fine primary category for a general practice, but if you also offer implants, orthodontics or emergency care, the secondary categories and services list are where you tell Google. Use the most specific categories that are true. Google asks for as few as possible, and categories that don't match your work can hurt more than help.
Add every treatment you want more of to your services: cleanings, crowns, implants, clear aligners, whitening, emergency visits, sedation if you offer it. Then add the details patients check before calling: insurance accepted, parking, wheelchair access, languages spoken, and whether you're taking new patients.
Keep your practice name as it appears on your sign. Google's guidelines don't allow adding treatments or neighborhoods to the name.
Treatment pages patients actually read
Patients searching "dental implants near me" want to know what it involves, roughly what it costs, whether insurance helps and how many visits it takes. A page for each main treatment that answers those questions plainly, in your own words, ranks better and converts better than a single list of services.
Answer new-patient questions on the site too: what the first visit looks like, which insurance plans you work with, what happens if someone has a dental emergency on a weekend. These are the same questions AI assistants get asked, and clear answers on your site are what they draw on.
If you have more than one office, give each location its own page with its own address, hours, team and directions, and link it to its own Google profile.
Reviews, replies and patient privacy
Reviews matter for practices the way they do for any local business, with one extra rule: patient privacy. In 2022, the federal health privacy regulator fined a California dental practice $23,000 for revealing patient details in replies to Yelp reviews (HIPAA Journal).
The safe pattern is simple. Thank people without confirming they're a patient, never mention treatment, visits or insurance, and invite anyone with a concern to call the office. It reads well to the next patient and keeps you clear of privacy problems.
Google doesn't allow discounts, gifts or payment in exchange for reviews, and it doesn't allow asking only your happy customers. The review policy is clear on both. The safe, effective habit is to ask every customer, every time, in the same way. A short text or email after each visit, with the review link, is usually enough.
Listings beyond Google
Patients also find dentists through Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp and insurance directories. Each one should show the same practice name, address, phone and hours as your Google profile. Mismatches confuse patients and weaken the signals search engines use to trust your details.
Claim your Apple Business Connect and Bing Places listings, which feed Apple Maps and some AI assistants, and check that your insurance network directories list your current address and phone.
Measure it like for like
Rankings on the map aren't one number. They change with the searcher's location, so a single check from your office tells you almost nothing about the rest of your area.
SOSSRANK checks your position from a grid of points across your service area, for the searches you care about, and saves each scan. When you change something, the next scan uses the same points, so you can see what moved and where. That's how you tell a real gain from noise, and how you decide what to fix next.
How it works
- 1Scan
We map your rank across your service area for the searches that matter in your trade, audit your website and Google profile, and check what AI assistants say about you.
- 2Plan
You get one list of fixes, ranked by impact, in plain English.
- 3Fix
Work through the list yourself in the app, or we update your profile, pages, listings and review process for you.
- 4Re-measure
We check the same map points again, so every change is compared like for like.
How fast things move depends on your market and your competitors. What doesn't change: every fix shows up on your map, measured from the same points each time, so you see what moved and when.

Questions we hear
Do you need access to patient information?
No. We work with your public listings, your website and your reviews. We never need patient records.
We have more than one office. Can you track each one?
Yes. The Growth plan covers up to 3 locations and the Agency plan up to 10, each with its own map. On done-for-you plans we manage each location's profile.
Do you work with businesses outside Maryland?
Yes. The app works for businesses anywhere in the US, and done-for-you work is done remotely, with everything visible in your dashboard. We're based in Germantown, Maryland.
How fast will I see more calls?
It depends on your market and your competitors, and Google says no one can pay for a better ranking. What you get is proof: you see the change on your map, measured from the same points every time.
